Three individuals died Sunday near Brackettville, during a human smuggling attempt, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
A gray Acura swerved off a roadway to avoid an animal while traveling at a high rate of speed around 12:30 p.m., a Texas DPS spokesperson said. The vehicle rolled multiple times and came to a stop upside down.
The driver and two passengers of the vehicle were pronounced dead on the scene, while three others were transported to a hospital for treatment.
The crash occurred on Texas Highway 131 in Kinney County, between Eagle Pass and Brackettville.
Identities of the deceased have not been released, pending notifications to the next of kin.
The case is pending investigation by the Department of Homeland Security.

Tres personas murieron el domingo cerca de Brackettville, durante un intento de contrabando de personas, según el Departamento de Seguridad Pública de Texas.
