Washington – Congressman Mike Conaway (TX-11) introduced the Second Chance at Life Act, a bill requiring doctors to inform women seeking a chemical abortion that the abortion can potentially be stopped and reversed in order to save the baby, if she changes her mind after taking the first dose.
“It is crucial that women making the decision to end their child’s life have access to all the information they need to make a fully informed decision. A chemical abortion can be fully reversed, with no harm to the child, should the mother change her mind halfway through the process. Many women have reported having second thoughts after taking the first dose but aren’t aware that the abortion can be stopped and reversed. Over 500 babies have been saved by the Abortion Pill Reversal protocol to date, but all too often women don’t know that they have that choice.
“Several states already require women seeking a chemical abortion to be notified of their options, but it’s critical that women across the country have access to this life-saving information. I am proud to introduce this legislation today, and proud to stand for life always.”

Washington: el congresista Mike Conaway (TX-11) presentó la Ley de Segunda Oportunidad en la Vida, un proyecto de ley que exige a los médicos que informen a las mujeres que buscan un aborto con sustancias químicas que el aborto puede ser detenido e invertido para salvar al bebé, si cambia de opinión después de tomar la primera dosis.
“Es crucial que las mujeres que toman la decisión de poner fin a la vida de sus hijos tengan acceso a toda la información que necesitan para tomar una decisión plenamente informada. Un aborto químico puede revertirse por completo, sin dañar al niño, si la madre cambia de opinión a la mitad del proceso. Muchas mujeres han informado que tienen dudas después de tomar la primera dosis, pero no son conscientes de que el aborto se puede detener y revertir. Más de 500 bebés han sido salvados por el protocolo de Reversión de la píldora abortiva hasta la fecha, pero con demasiada frecuencia las mujeres no saben que tienen esa opción.
“Varios estados ya requieren que las mujeres que buscan un aborto con sustancias químicas sean informadas de sus opciones, pero es fundamental que las mujeres de todo el país tengan acceso a esta información para salvar vidas. Estoy orgulloso de presentar esta legislación hoy, y estoy orgulloso de defender la vida siempre".
