The celebration of the first Amistad Music Fest scored a huge success on Saturday, Oct. 15, as hundreds and hundreds of Del Rioans attended the family fun-filled event which featured local and international bands at the Dr. Alfredo Gutierrez Jr. Amphitheater.
The event, the brainchild of the Del Rio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, also featured food trucks, cold drinks and other vendors, and set up the mood for the upcoming Fiestas de Amistad, which will be celebrating its 62nd anniversary this year, under the wing of the International Good Neighbor Council - Del Rio Chapter.
Local band Alto Voltaje opened the fest with their modern vibe, followed by the Sapphire’s Dance Team Del Rio Freshman.
Tejano singer and songwriter Ramiro “Ram” Herrera was next. The Tejano Music Award Male Entertainer of the Year and Lifetime Achievement Award from The Tejano Music Association recipient gave the crowd a master class in entertainment.
Herrera had a little something for everyone, as the cumbias, rancheras, power ballads, and even some rock and roll are part of his musical range.
Herrera, a 2010 Latin Grammy nominee, gave proof of his music skills and was greeted as the musical legend he truly is.
Next up was the cumbia sensation Yahari, from Nueva Rosita, Coahuila, Mexico.
The public jumped from their seats and turned the space in front of the stage into a dance floor to the tunes of La Cumbia de la Alberca, El Coco Rayado, El Cometa, and many more.
The public made the band come back for one last song after they finished their playlist.
After leaving the stage Yahari proved worthy of their fan base, by staying on the side of the stage to take pictures with the fans, until the very last individual of a long line was done with.
During a brief speech Del Rio Mayor Al Arreola took the stage to thank the Hispanic chamber for the support and for putting this event together. Arreola said that the city will be looking into having different events for the public on a quarterly basis.
Also addressing the crowd and thanking everyone for supporting the first Amistad Music Fest were Del Rio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce President Isidro Valdez Fernandez, Amistad Music Fest Committee Chair Mary Mota, and board members Javier Martinez and Carlos Ayala.
Mariachi Campanas de America, from San Antonio, continued with the program playing to the tunes of El Son de la Negra, El Rey, and many more, making the public sing along.
Last but not least, the Garcia Brothers, a Tejano band from Eagle Pass, delighted the public with their show.
Del Rioans filled the Dr. Alfredo Gutierrez Jr. Amphitheater to the brim, enjoying a beautiful day and night, and the great entertainment provided by the fist Amistad Music Fest.

Del Rio Mayor Al Arreola thanked the Del Rio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce for organizing the Amistad Music Fest, and said that the city is working in bringing more public events for the community to enjoy.
El Mayor de Del Rio, Al Arreola, agradeció a la Cámara de Comercio Hispana por la organización del evento, y adelantó que la ciudad está trabajando en traer más eventos de entretenimiento para la comunidad.

Amistad Music Fest un gran éxito

La celebración del primer Amistad Music Fest fue un gran éxito el sábado 15 de octubre, ya que cientos y cientos de delrienses asistieron al evento familiar lleno de diversión que contó con bandas locales e internacionales en el Anfiteatro Dr. Alfredo Gutiérrez Jr.
El evento, una creación de la Cámara de Comercio Hispana de Del Río, también contó con camiones de comida, bebidas frías y otros vendedores, y preparó el ambiente para las próximas Fiestas de la Amistad, que celebrarán su 62 aniversario este año, bajo el auspicio del Consejo Internacional de la Buena Vecindad - Capítulo Del Río.
La banda local Alto Voltaje abrió el festival con su ambiente moderno, seguida por Sapphire's Dance Team Del Rio Freshman.
El cantante y compositor de música tejana Ramiro “Ram” Herrera fue el siguiente. El premio Tejano Music Award al Artista Masculino del Año y premio Lifetime Achievement Award de The Tejano Music Association le dieron a la multitud una clase magistral en entretenimiento.
Herrera tenía algo para todos, ya que las cumbias, rancheras, baladas e incluso algo de rock and roll son parte de su rango musical.
Herrera, nominado al Latin Grammy 2010, dio prueba de sus habilidades musicales y fue recibido como la leyenda musical que realmente es.
El siguiente en el programa fue la sensación de la cumbia Yahari, de Nueva Rosita, Coahuila, México.
El público saltó de sus asientos y convirtió el espacio frente al escenario en una pista de baile al ritmo de La Cumbia de la Alberca, El Coco Rayado, El Cometa y muchos más.
El público hizo que la banda volviera para una última canción después de terminar su lista de canciones.
Después de abandonar el escenario, Yahari demostró ser digno de sus fans, permaneciendo en un costado del escenario para tomarse fotos hasta que terminó con la última persona de una larga fila.
Durante un breve discurso, el Alcalde de Del Río, Al Arreola, subió al escenario para agradecer a la cámara hispana por el apoyo y por organizar este evento. Arreola dijo que la ciudad buscará tener diferentes eventos para el público trimestralmente.
También se dirigieron a la multitud y agradecieron a todos por apoyar el primer Amistad Music Fest, el presidente de la Cámara de Comercio Hispana de Del Río, Isidro Valdez Fernandez, la presidenta del comité del Amistad Music Fest, Mary Mota, y los miembros de la junta, Javier Martínez y Carlos Ayala.
El Mariachi Campanas de América, de San Antonio, continuó con el programa al son de El Son de la Negra, El Rey y muchas canciones más, haciendo cantar al público.
Por último, pero no menos importante, los hermanos García, una banda de música tejana de Eagle Pass, deleitó al público con su espectáculo.
